You might think that I’ve forgotten how to blog these past two months, but I assure you I’m just playing catch-up after a really busy final semester and preparing a show of 29 images from Moweaqua. Before I move on from ISU (and bring the show down to Moweaqua), I thought I’d share the set-up from Gallery 2 at ISU. Yes, I even managed to include my favorite Moweaqua ashtray into the gallery….
MFA Show at University Galleries
March 21, 2010Please come join us March 30th at University Galleries at Illinois State University for the opening of my MFA show, titled “The One and Only: Photographs from Moweaqua”. A good time will be had by all!
The show will be at ISU until April 3rd. Gallery hours are listed below.
After this the work can be seen at my gallery in Moweaqua, and hopefully at a few arts festivals this summer. I can’t thank everyone in Moweaqua and at ISU enough for their support, participation and love during this process. I hope that I’ve done you all proud!
The 2010 First Farmer’s State Bank Calendar is here!
November 4, 2009
This year I had to honor of working with First Farmer’s State Bank to produce their 2010 Calendar titled “Rural Route”. I spent a good amount of time exploring Delevan, Minier and Bloomington (the locations of the 3 bank branches) and we came up with an edit of 12 images from that work. This has been a wonderful project to be a part of! The calendar was designed by local graphic designer Dena McDonald, and printed at Alpha Graphics in Bloomington. I just got my copy today and couldn’t be happier with the final results!
Prints from the calendar are available for purchase for $60. The money is being divided equally to benefit the 4-H clubs of Tazwell and McLean County, and to establish a photography award for the Illinois State University Student Annual.
First Farmer’s State Bank has been a huge supporter of Photography at Illinois State. For the past year ISU students’ work has been featured in their lobby. Now you can see a few Britten Traughber prints in the lobby, or order one for your home or as a gift and help raise funds for these local organizations!
Orders can be placed by sending a check to the address below. Please indicate which month you are purchasing, and don’t forget to include where the print should be shipped!

Midwestern Storms
June 18, 2009I heard that a great storm came through Moweaqua last night. I missed this one (we’re on vacation in Vermont, pictures coming soon!) but it reminded me of a landscape from last month that I haven’t had time to post until now. I love a good thunderstorm more than anything else in the summer!

God’s Country
May 26, 2009My Grammy said her dad Paul always wanted to retire in “God’s Country” as he called it- south of Moweaqua in the Cowden Herrick area, where there are a few hills, lots of scenery, and not a lot of people. We make an annual Memorial Day trip to decorate family graves down there, and I always look forward to visiting such exotic locations as the Mud Run, Ridge and Red Bank cemeteries. I’m amazed at how fast the landscape changes in such a short drive…
Jack and Cally’s Wedding
May 5, 2009
Congratulations to my cousin Cally and her husband Jack who were married last Saturday in Moweaqua! It was a really wonderful ceremony to witness… (I promised them only a few pics will end up being used for my Moweaqua project) These two crazy kids are just too adorable, so much love!
Population 2000
April 15, 2009Like Moweaqua, brittentraughber.wordpress.com has hit the 2000 mark! (visits that is, not residents!)… Thanks everyone for checking in, don’t be shy to leave a note!

Spring means Golf… so come to Moweaqua!
April 15, 2009Don Wright was kind enough to give me a tour of the Moweaqua Golf Course, which was created by volunteer efforts and community support alone in the early 90s. It has now expanded to a full 18 holes, and attracts visitors from Decatur, Chicago, St. Louis and beyond. Moweaqua even has a golf pro!

Adventures in Bethany
April 12, 2009It’s not every day that I get to visit with friends, tour a farm and watch as a Trebuchet throws a bowling ball across a field…
