I’d rather be bowling…

February 27, 2009

After a long, stressful  week nothing would make me happier than knocking down a few pins at the Moweaqua Bowl and Cafe this weekend. My dad and I had a date there not too long ago and he kicked my butt, but I swear it was because I was too busy photographing. My dad’s a really good bowler, though.

Oh yeah, and the Seitz family totally has my business. They like bowling too!

They did it- again!

February 20, 2009

We were so lucky to spend Valentine’s Day with Allison and Terry while they said their vows- for the second time- with a crowd of friends and family surrounding them!  Talk about true love!

Happy Valentine’s

February 14, 2009

Above all, to my love I’ll be attentive
First and always, with care and so much
That even when facing the greatest enchantment
By love be more enchanted my thoughts.

I want to live it through in each vain moment
And in its honor I’ll spread my song
And laugh my laughter and cry my tears
When you are sad or when you are content.

And thus, when later comes looking for me
Who knows, the death, anxiety of the living,
Who knows, the loneliness, end of all lovers

I’ll be able to say to myself of the love (I had):
Be not immortal, since it is flame
But be infinite while it lasts.

-Vinicius de Moraes, 1960

Author Nancy Agabian in Bloomington

February 12, 2009

Author Nancy Agabian will be at Border’s in Bloomington this Friday at 7:00 pm to read from her new book Me as Her Again: True Stories of an Armenian Daughter.

We had a chance this morning to commemorate her visit to Bloomington and Illinois State (where she spoke yesterday) with a quick photoshoot. I am really looking forward to reading her work, and loved working with her- she was a really good sport despite not liking to be photographed. More about Nancy can be found at her website:  nancyagabian.com

In Memory of Freda Keown: One year later

February 8, 2009

I took this portrait the weekend before my Aunt Freda passed away , a year ago today. Here she is holding her own portrait and the doll that was made for her based on that photograph. I’m so glad we had that afternoon together to photograph at her home in Findlay (along with my Grammy Rita, her sister)- it will always be a favorite memory of mine.

Wedding Day

February 7, 2009

We’re so excited to be heading to Sullivan to photograph my friend Sarah’s wedding. She and her fiance Pete are one of the sweetest, most sincere couples I’ve ever met. It’s looking like a gorgeous day to get married as well. I grew up with Sarah’s family in Bethany, and could be considered their fifth child if they’d claim me 🙂

So, here’s to Sarah and Pete, may you be blessed today and every day after that. We’re so honored to be able to photograph the beginning of your life together.

Artist’s books and prints available on Etsy

February 4, 2009

Because nothing says “I love you” like good art!  (Or happy birthday, Merry Christmas, etc..)

I love it when my art  makes someone happy, and has a place in their home- so I thought Etsy would be a good venue to make my prints more available year-round. Prints will be added slowly in the next few weeks, but I can also print specific sizes, and of course, can print any image you find here but not on Etsy. Just e-mail me-   brittentraughber@hotmail.com.

Also, I have 2 copies left of my Limited Edition leather bound artist’s book, featuring 10 color prints from my Illinois, Illinois portfolio (2007-2008). All books are signed and contain original archival pigment prints made in the studio. This is a limited edition of 8 books, and 5 have sold so far. They make wonderful gifts and I’ve heard great things from people who bought one for family and friends over the holidays.

These book contain some of my favorite images from the past year (included below) made with my Hasselblaad 500c/m, including: The Lincoln Room, Midwestern Romanticism, Coop (Secor), Old Style and many more…
